Dedicated Poem:
The poem extends the imagery of the artwork into language, deepening its mediation on grief and depression. The piece evokes the sensation of being lost beneath the shelter of a willow tree, where branches veil the world in quiet solitude. The willow, with it’s ability to bend without breaking, becomes both a symbol of fragility and resilience - an emblem of how sorrow can weigh heavily yet not entirely destroy.
Beneath the willow’s arms,
Rain threads the silence-
Gray upon gray,
Sorrow drips in slow, uncounted hours
Tears gather quietly,
Falling unseen to the earth,
Life fades at the edge of vision,
Branches cradle both ache and shelter,
Warmth flickers, then recedes.
This sorrow - a passing storm,
Or the fabric of the heart -
Woven, worn,
Sheltered, but never done.
