About the Artist:

Camellia Butterfield is an abstract artist based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, known for her expressive large-scale works and refined sense of color and composition. A graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in Interior Design, Camellia brings a unique perspective to her art, drawing on her extensive background in residential design and construction.

Raised in a creative family, Camellia’s passion for art began at an early age and has remained a driving force throughout her life. Her professional journey started in an interior design showroom, where she curated artwork from local and regional artists for a variety of projects. This experience deepened her appreciation for original art and inspired her to create her own pieces, initially for her home and close friends.

As a self-taught artist, Camellia has developed her craft through continuous exploration and study of contemporary artists, as well as participation in high-end art markets. Her work is characterized by bold forms, layered textures, and a thoughtful interplay of color—qualities that reflect her design sensibility and attention to detail.

Camellia’s dual expertise in art and interior design allows her to collaborate seamlessly with designers and private clients, creating commissioned pieces that elevate and personalize any space. Her intuitive approach and commitment to quality have earned her a reputation for delivering artwork that is both visually striking and harmoniously integrated into its environment.

When she’s not in her studio, Camellia enjoys exploring Chattanooga’s arts and family-friendly events, spending time outdoors and rock climbing, savoring a latte from a local coffee shop, or trying out all the new restaurants the city has to offer.
